Ronald McDonald Wants You To Get Hein

Lorenzo Apriani is in Brazil right now filming a commercial for McDonalds. Not sure exactly what will happen in the commercial, but Lorenzo will be freestyling. Will he be Ronald McDonald himself, rolling and turning over and gitising? Or will we see Lorenzo himself hitting something big for all of South America to see? Only time will tell. When the commercial is finished, I’m sure someone will get a copy to Shrednow so everyone can see Lorenzo’s moment in the Brazilian sun.

Paganello 2006

Yes, it’s time!
From 13 to 17 april 2006, there will be Paganello 2006!!!

On the Rimini beach, more than 1.200 ultimate players (96 teams) and more of 42 freestylers will compete.

A big Village, 5 parties, a big Circus Tent, the mythical "red carpet"…all it will be ready, for you, because we want Paganello will be an entusiastic and magic experience for all.

I’m very happy, this year, because a lot of players will come, from Hungary, Germany, USA, Suisse, Italy… and a lot will have their first Paganello-experience.

But, most importantly, a lot will be at their first-competition-experience: very young players (from 14 to 20 years old), will compete, and they will try the great (and strong) emotion to play with and versus their "idols" : Tom Leitner, example, or Reto Zimmermann, or Clay Collerá…

Well, I’m happy: so big number of players (and probably other freestylers will come, so 42 is only the number "for now"), a lot of new players, a lot of energy:

Paganello will be ready to be your crazy, lovely, funny home, for 5 days!

Have a nice day.

Lui

FPAW2006: Google Earth View

Kolja Hanneman has programmed a file for Google Earth that will let you see all the sites of Berlin. Now you can be familiar with the city before you arrive for FPAW2006.
Right click the image to download the .kmz file, then load it into Google Earth. If your browser renames it with a txt suffix, just rename the file so it ends in .kmz.

The best color for a disc

Hi jammers out there!

I have two questions to the community:

1. Which tournaments are counted as majors?

2. I’d like to start a discussion: What’s the best color for a disc?

I know we had a poll about that on shrednow already and a discussion on jammers on the net recently and it seems like, that the majority of jammers favors white discs. But why? Because you seem them better during the dusk?
For me the most important feature is the slickness of a disc. That’s why i prefer yellow discs. I feel that in most cases the spin lasts longer with them.
And that’s another interesting point to me: why only in most cases? Sometimes I buy a really good disc and I think: o.k. let’s buy five more, but then the rest is "crap". Why is that? I don’t get it! I’m curious about your answers,

greetings
Philipp

Back home from Olympics!

So, we are back from the Olympus! Everything was so great and professional, the organization over there is just outstanding, great food, great vibes!

As Masu told us after the first show (we did two during the day): “We made it!The entertainment was unbelievebly high! The only show where people came and stopped! The ONLY show that had the official Olympic photographer shooting! And the only one that made interactions with people! Even athletes came, watching amazed and tried some moves!! The organizers of the “entertainment area” had the best feedback with us! We won them!”

Eleonora could make lots of photos of the event and Matteo Ceresa shot with the videocamera the second show…awesome!
I’ll post the video soon and Eleonora will post the photos!

Thanks again to Masu for giving frisbee this great opportinuty!

Thanks to Matteo Ceresa for hosting all of us in Torino and shooting the video!

Thanks to Lui and Clay for organizing, brainstorming everything from the travel to the show!

And a big thanks to the athletes who took part to the event:

Clay Collerá
Matteo Gaddoni
Eleonora Imazio
Alessandro Collerá
Matteo Ceresa
Luca Medri
Fabio Sanna

See you next event!

Fabio & Eleonora

Freestyle At The Torino Olympic Village

Lui Tasini reports that there will be a freestyle demo at the Olympics this week. It was arranged by Emanuele Maltoni (Ema or Manu) from the Olympics. He was part of the Paganello organizing team a few years ago.

On Friday (February 24), Clay and Ale Collerá, Fabio Sanna, Eleonora Imazio, Matteo Gaddoni and Luca Medri freestyle will visit the Olympic Village for an unofficial Frisbee Freestyle show.

Wow!

I am asked all the time "is freestyle in the Olympics"? Now can I say yes? Many of us have watched big events like the Olympics and wondered what it would be like to be one of the "chosen" sports. Some disc sports are already used in Olympic training. For instance, I saw a segment a few years ago showing the US volleyball team using beach ultimate as cross training.

I can’t wait to see photos from the show and hear about everything: what the Village is like, whether the athletes watched and what they thought, whether they have any security issues. Everything.
